There is more to managing and understanding education than knowing how the mind works or using instructional tools. This book closes the gap on Management of Educational Projects – a recommended read. ~ Prof. Dr. Armin Weinberger, Saarland University, Germany
Having worked at educational institutions for over 20 years, I realized that books and resources on Educational Project Management are extremely rare! It was an absolute delight to read Dr Niki Lambropoulos’ book covering the full lifecycle of sustainable educational projects. I highly recommend the book. ~ Dr. Aneesha Bakharia, The University of Queensland, Australia
Managing educational projects from cradle-to-grave in a systematic and consistent way may mitigate such complex challenge. Hence, the value of this book is a sine qua non for educational researchers, academics and entrepreneurs who aspire to disrupt and abrupt change in how we encapsulate value in educational projects. ~ Dr Petros Lameras, Coventry University, UK
From the Author, Niki Lambropoulos

Vocational Dreams to Career Reality: Technology Enhanced Learning for Everyday Connectivity and Practice
Dr. Niki Lambropoulos
A great number of jobs are becoming obsolete these days; our era is shifting from the Industrial to the Information, Collaboration and Creativity one. Knowledge, skills, competencies and associated tools within Communities of Practice (CoPs) are constantly altering. In the rise of such new world, new dreams and visions are needed to be manifested creating new CoPs and careers that sometimes can be entirely unpredictable. This rapid information expansion, worldwide collaboration and promptly emerging new technologies, are raising demands in the everyday working ecosystems. Consequently, they impact and alter the Vocational Education and Training (VET) pedagogical approaches and learning possibilities. Based upon the inevitable uncertainty, best practices are presented that have been intelligently employed for vocational technology enhanced learning within in situ connected working environments. Furthermore, new methods, tools and techniques are proposed to embrace and enhance collaborative creativity implemented in diverse and intersected informal and formal learning and working locations. Such frameworks and easy-to-use tools have the potential to adjust and bridge previous knowledge and experiences with the new working demands. In this way, knowledge, skills and competencies can be transformed and transmitted within unified learning and working ecosystems for everyday ubiquitous connectivity and practice.

Modeling our 21st Century Information Society
Dr. Niki Lambropoulos
Wire Communications Laboratory – University of Patras, Greece & Global Operations Division, London, UK
ICT, Web 2.0 and open source software helped us to extend our observation, knowledge, awareness and innovation capabilities, even in the era of financial crises. One factor that triggered the crisis is ‘reciprocal determinism’; the notion that a series of consequences impact our environment and also influence and condition our behaviour. Then our environment impacts our personalities. This is an ongoing cycle nourished by our internal and external stimuli and conflicts, now functioning as a reminder to become more extraverts, responsive and altruistic for societal unity, peace and wellbeing. Complementary to feed-forward in the future by technology, is the trend to derive ideas from history. Computing pioneers tend to adopt multi- and cross-disciplinary learning paradigms like intelligent-cognitive support tools and augmented reality. Socio-technical systems assist designers to maximize human values, even while achieving business and technical virtuosity. These visions, along with the early 21st century Web 2.0 emerging social understandings and practices, were incorporated into interface design. This aimed at fitting systems into the ways we function as Human Beings. The emerged Web Based Communities and Social Media modified our understanding of the world and stimulated co-creativity and knowledge synergy. As a result, affected by the evolving financial crisis, our digitally-enhanced surroundings reformed our behaviours, social interactions, the economy and the culture as a whole. Thus, we always need a social and cultural framework before we can actually improve man—machine transactions. So the key question and message in this presentation is:
What kind of systems and processes aid us to externalise our human capabilities, already encrypted in our DNA, for the 21st Century Information Society?
Web 1.0 was revolved around top-down Information and E-commerce; Web 2.0 moved beyond static pages allowing users to interact and collaborate with each other utilising Social Media and collaborative platforms; Web 3.0 is about enhancing the ‘intelligence’ of the Web underlying architecture, so the user and the machine can recognise behavioural patterns, modify them, and re-create the virtual environment based upon users’ own goals and dreams. As at the same time we perceive and create our world with our senses, cognition and tools, we may become aware of our inner qualities and obstacles. Therefore, looking ahead for visions to utilise technological design and innovation for smarter Web is essential. Instead of being lost in digital flood, technologies and methods can support our responsive interactions so to experience our world as an entity. For example, social media may enable inter-sectoral and inter-cultural relations, inter-connectedness and affective factors utilising embodied cognition, massive data visualisation and analysis, collective intelligence and joint development systems or social robots. Motivation, empathy, intimacy, co-presence, trust, performance and self-efficacy can expand our awareness in human-human communication. Such inner qualities within local and global, social and semantic networks, brought into light by human-computer interaction visualisations, gadgets interoperability or shared augmented reality. They may be the kind of systems and processes to lift existing barriers, empower immersive, multi-sensory and memorable experiences and bridge academia with industry. Reciprocal determinism is then replaced by total awareness and free will, enabling us to amend our reality. As such, Web 3.0 Information Society is modelled entirely by the users, re-defining the ‘User’ as the ‘Dreamer’, the ‘Architect’ and the ‘Creator’. In turn, we co-construct our internal and external biotope, and this time, we succeed.
The Rise of the Semantic Web Started from the Blogs: Our Selves Snapshots Reminiscing the Past, Creating the Present and Predicting the Future
The 21st century was launched with the Web 2.0 tools and the blogs leading the new era, mostly functioning as daily diaries, facilitating us taking snapshots of our lives. Such co-weaving the present precious moments and memories using multimedia creates traces of our digital Selves in time, together creating the magnificent web. Can we predict our future looking back over our backs and change our reality? In what ways can we identify such Self Reflection meaningful moments? Massive data analysis may now provide tools to ourselves and students to trace back and identify behaviours in order to re-create our present, predict, change trajectories and transform our future as individual, community members and human beings. The rise of the Semantic Web can provide us with the key to identify our wrongs and thus opening us the gate to immortality.
